Phil Kessel was named the NHL Player of the Month for October.
The Toronto sniper led the league with 10 goals and 18 points in 11 games to kick off the 2011-12 campaign. "He had the best month of his career so far," coach Ron Wilson said Tuesday. "He's been consistent in the 11 games he's played. Lots of shots and doing things that I haven't seen him do before like play hard in our zone, get pucks out, get in hard on the forecheck. I guess I should say I expect him to play the same in November. We'll see." He'll look to carry over his success into November when the Leafs travel to New Jersey on Wednesday night. Nov 2 - 9:16 AM
