Tommy Wingels is being moved up to the Sharks' third line for their exhibition game Tuesday night.
It appears as though Wingels is going to replace Jamie McGinn on the line with Michal Handzus and Torrey Mitchell. Wingels entered Tuesday leading the Sharks with three goals in the exhibition season. But coach Todd McLellan said the goals had little to do with the new role for Wingels. "Tommy has come into camp and understood what we’re looking for and he’s played toward that," McLellan said. "He’s been in on the forecheck, he’s turned a number of other team’s pucks over off of that. He’s worked hard back through the neutral zone and into the d-zone and been responsible there. And when given the opportunity, he’s shot a few pucks in the net."

Re: Tommy Wingels
If Martin Havlat (shoulder) is unable to play in the Sharks' season opener, Tommy Wingels will probably skate alongside Ryane Clowe and Logan Couture.
"He's stronger and quicker," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said of Wingels' progress over the past 12 months. "Where he maybe hoped to fit in last year, I think he believes he can fit in now. And that's a huge difference in the confidence level." Havlat is questionable for the start of the season. Keep a close eye on this situation.
