The Montreal Canadiens have acquired the negotiating rights to Joel Edmundson from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 2020 fifth-round draft pick.
Edmundson can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, so this move just gives Montreal an exclusive period where they can negotiate with him. Edmundson had seven goals and 20 points in 68 contests while averaging 18:27 minutes. Carolina acquired Edmundson from St. Louis in Sept. 2019 as part of the Justin Faulk trade.
